It was the vision of our Chairman, Dr. A. Sivasailam to establish an agricultural research centre to enrich the lives of the farming community. The whole concept of 'J' farm research centre is guided by Mr. Sivasailam's genuine concern for the community and TAFE's stakeholders. It's his strong conviction that it's just not enough to manufacture the finest agricultural machinery but to be totally involved in the life of the farmer and to contribute to his well being in the best possible way.

With this ideal in mind he created "Jfarm" an adaptive research and agricultural extension centre in the memory of the founder of Amalgamations Group Shri. S.Anantharamakrishnan who was also known as 'J'. This farm was established in 1964 and is spread over 200 acres.

Objectives of this farm cum research centre

• Demonstrate the use of appropriate implement, equipment and machinery for various agricultural operations to reduce human drudgery.
• Identify improved varieties in select crops such as rice, pulses and oilseeds which will have good yield, high quality and which can be grown with low risk.
• Produce and distribute seeds of the identified varieties and a few popularly grown varieties to the farmers.

This unique portal supported with over 200,000 photographs was launched in the year 2000. This gives exhaustive and customized information on the crop production, protection and processing technologies for major and minor crops in 18 states.

JFarmIndia.com provides a wealth of information on pests and diseases and their damage symptoms supported with photographs and season- long management with reliance on use of proper pesticides and bio-agents, where feasible. Adopting technologies presented in the portal, the farmers can get an additional yield ranging from 15-20% over the present yield.
